It’s a sad reality that there are scenarios in which nurses are incorrectly and unnecessarily disciplined. An LVN or RN license can be disciplined over simple misunderstandings and even small mistakes or situations in which they made a bad decision. When this happens to you, you should know that you need legal representation in the presence of LVN attorneys in Fort Worth.

At the time of the incidents, the LVN was employed in a hospital in Fort Worth and had been in that position for four months.

On or about October 11, 2016, the LVN failed to assess and document neurological assessments for a patient every hour, as ordered. Her conduct resulted in an incomplete medical record and exposed the patient to risk of harm from undetected changes of condition and subsequent care decisions made without the benefit of accurate and reliable information.

Subsequently, the LVN failed 10 document blood pressures and heart rates for a patient every fifteen minutes, as ordered. Further, the LVN failed to document indications for increasing the rate of norepinephrine infusion being administered to the patient. Her conduct resulted in an incomplete medical record and exposed the patient to risk of harm from subsequent care decisions made without the benefit of accurate and reliable information.

In response to the incident, the RN states that the patient was continuously monitored in an ICU setting utilizing a tissue oximeter in addition to constant personal observation of the operative site in accordance with the plan of care. The oximeter values were accurate and there was no change in condition of the operative site.

In response to the other incident, the LVN states this patient had invasive cardiac monitoring with vital signs recorded continuously. Cardiac drips were managed and litrated according to specific written protocols that required increasing the amount of norepinephrine when the patient’s systolic blood pressure measured more than 180 mmHg. She states that she has never been reported to the Texas Board of Nursing before or after this employment experience and takes great pride in her profession.

However, without valid evidence to prove her innocence, the LVN was disciplined and suspended.

The LVN could have defended herself by hiring LVN attorneys in Fort Worth on her side. However, she failed to do so, which led to her license being suspended.
