Whenever someone filed a complaint against you involving negligence at work, your license could be put in danger if not defended by a nurse attorney. An RN from Texas is just one of the many examples of nurses who were found to be negligent while on duty.

On or about August 7, 2019, the Board provided notice to the RN that an investigation was being initiated into alleged violations of the Nursing Practice Act and/or the Board’s Rules and Regulations Relating to Nurse Education, Licensure, and Practice, as follows:

On or about May 2019, through June 2019, while employed as a Registered Nurse at a hospital facility in Georgetown, Texas, the RN withdrew Hydromorphone, Hydrocodone, and Oxycodone from the medication dispensing system for patients but failed to document and/or accurately and completely document the administration of the medication in the patients’ Medication Administration Record (MAR) and/or Nurses’ Notes.

On or about May 2019, through June 2019, while employed as a Registered Nurse, the RN withdrew Hydromorphone, Hydrocodone, and Oxycodone from the medication dispensing system for patients but failed to follow the facility’s policy and procedure for wastage of the unused portions of the medications.

On or about May 2019, through June 2019, while employed as a Registered Nurse, the RN misappropriated Hydromorphone, Hydrocodone, and Oxycodone belonging to the facility and patients thereof, or failed to take precautions to prevent such misappropriation.

On January 24, 2020, the Board received a statement from the RN voluntarily surrendering the right to practice nursing in Texas. A copy of the RN’s statement, dated January 24, 2020, is attached and incorporated herein by reference as part of this Order.

Furthermore, the RN failed to hire a nurse attorney to help her with her case. Because of this, the Texas Board of Nursing suspended and disciplined the RN.
